Half Day Cerro Benítez (AM)
Just 24 kilometers from Puerto Natales, the majestic Cerro Benítez rises to 550 meters, offering one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the region. This tour takes you on a scenic hike through a beautiful, dense lenga forest, leading to a natural viewpoint overlooking the stunning Patagonian landscape.
The hike to the summit takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, allowing you to enjoy the tranquility of the forest before reaching the windy heights of the hill. From the top, you'll be rewarded with expansive views of the Prat Mountain Range, Chacabuco Range, Cerro Tenerife, Cerro La Olla, and the sparkling waters of Laguna Sofía below.
Cerro Benítez features steep cliffs and deep ravines, creating an ideal habitat for the Andean Condor, the largest flying bird in the Andes. While sightings are not guaranteed, there is a good chance to spot them soaring through the skies, especially on windy days. With a bit of luck, you’ll witness these magnificent birds in flight — a perfect opportunity for unforgettable photos.
After soaking in the views and taking a well-deserved break to eat, hydrate, and rest, we’ll begin our descent back to the vehicle for the return trip to Puerto Natales.

Day by day itinerary
Day 1 — HALF DAY CERRO BENÍTEZ
09:00 hrs – Departure from Puerto Natales
Pick-up from your accommodation and transfer to Cerro Benítez, located just 24 km from the city. Along the way, enjoy the first glimpses of the stunning Patagonian landscape that will accompany us throughout the day.
09:40 hrs – Start of the hike
We begin our trek through a lush lenga forest, following well-marked trails. This first section is ideal for immersing yourself in the peacefulness of the natural surroundings.
11:00 hrs – Arrival at the summit viewpoint
After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of hiking, we reach the summit of Cerro Benítez (550 m). From here, we enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view that includes:
- Prat Mountain Range
- Chacabuco Mountain Range
- Cerro Tenerife
- Cerro La Olla
- Laguna Sofía
11:15 hrs – Free time for rest and photography
Take a well-deserved break to hydrate, eat your snack, and capture the beauty of the landscape and local wildlife with your camera.
11:45 hrs – Start of the descent
We begin our descent along the same trail, once again passing through the lenga forest. This part offers a new perspective of the terrain and natural surroundings.
12:30 hrs – Return by vehicle
We board our transport back to Puerto Natales, reflecting on the views and experiences, and perhaps reviewing some great condor photos.
13:00 hrs – Arrival in Puerto Natales
End of the tour. Free time for lunch or to continue exploring the city.
