Adventure to the French Valley Lookout
Our journey begins early, at 5:30 a.m., with passenger pick-up directly from accommodations in Puerto Natales. From there, we’ll head by vehicle to the stunning Torres del Paine National Park.
Our starting point is the Pudeto sector, where we will board the first catamaran of the day at 8:30 a.m. We'll sail for about 30 minutes across the turquoise waters of Lake Pehoé, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, until we reach Refugio Paine Grande.
Let the Adventure Begin
From Paine Grande, we begin the trek to the French Valley Lookout, a demanding but rewarding route of approximately 27 km round trip. Our first stop will be at Campamento Italiano, after hiking 7.5 km. There, we'll take a short break before tackling the most challenging part of the trail: a 5.5 km ascent to the lookout point, surrounded by towering peaks, hanging glaciers, and the potential roar of avalanches.
The French Valley, nestled between Paine Grande Mountain and the dramatic Cuernos del Paine, is a natural wonder. At the lookout, you’ll have time to rest, enjoy your box lunch, and capture unforgettable photos of one of the most spectacular valleys in the world.
Return by Catamaran
After enjoying the viewpoint, we’ll descend the same trail back to Refugio Paine Grande, where we'll board the last catamaran of the day at 6:40 p.m., heading back to Pudeto. From there, we’ll return by vehicle to Puerto Natales, arriving between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m.
Day by day itinerary
Day 1 — FRENCH VALLEY LOOKOUT
05:30 a.m. – Departure from Puerto Natales
- Pick-up from your accommodation in Puerto Natales.
- Transfer by vehicle to Torres del Paine National Park, witnessing the Patagonian sunrise along the way.
08:30 a.m. – Boat ride on Lake Pehoé
- Board the first catamaran of the day at Pudeto.
- A scenic 30-minute ride across the turquoise waters of Lake Pehoé.
- Arrival at Paine Grande Refuge, the starting point of the trek.
Trek begins: Paine Grande Refuge ? French Valley Viewpoint
- Begin a challenging 27 km round-trip hike.
- First stretch: 7.5 km to Italian Camp.
- Second stretch: A 5.5 km uphill trek to the French Valley Viewpoint.
- Surrounded by towering mountains, hanging glaciers, forests, and the echo of distant avalanches.
- Time to relax, enjoy your box lunch, and take breathtaking photos at the viewpoint.
18:40 – Return by catamaran
- Hike back along the same trail to Paine Grande Refuge.
- Board the last catamaran of the day back to Pudeto.
- Return by vehicle to Puerto Natales.
20:00 – 21:00 – Arrival in Puerto Natales
- End of the tour.
- Drop-off at your accommodation.
